Slippery When Wet warns that this stretch loses grip badly in rain, frost, or snow — the surface, drainage, or grade makes it worse than a normal road in the same weather.
Warning signs alert you to hazards or changing conditions ahead.
In any wet or frosty conditions slow down before this section, avoid sudden braking, steering, or acceleration, and double your following distance.
Warning signs are usually yellow diamonds with black symbols. In construction or maintenance zones they are orange instead of yellow.
Bridge decks are the exam's favourite example: they freeze before the roads around them because cold air passes both above and below the deck.
