This hazard marker's diagonal stripes point downward toward the right — the side on which you must pass the object it's mounted on (an abutment, culvert end, or island nose).
Warning signs alert you to hazards or changing conditions ahead.
Pass the marked object on the side the stripes slope toward. At night these reflective stripes may be your only warning of an unlit obstruction at the road edge.
Warning signs are usually yellow diamonds with black symbols. In construction or maintenance zones they are orange instead of yellow.
Read the stripes: they slope down toward the safe side. The exam shows left- and right-sloping markers and asks which side to pass on.
