Single Right Curve sign (Alberta WA-3-R)

WA-3-R

Warning sign

What does the Single Right Curve sign mean?

A single right curve is ahead: the road bends right at a gentler angle than a sharp turn, but still enough to warrant slowing down, especially in rain, snow, or ice.

Warning signs alert you to hazards or changing conditions ahead.

What to do at this sign

Ease off the accelerator before entering, follow the curve at a steady speed, and avoid braking mid-curve where it can unsettle the vehicle on a slick surface.

How to recognize this sign

Warning signs are usually yellow diamonds with black symbols. In construction or maintenance zones they are orange instead of yellow.

How the Class 7 test asks about this sign

Read the arrow like a map: it bends the way the road bends. Curves have flowing arrows; sharp turns have right-angle arrows — the test shows both and asks the difference.

From this sign to a passing score

Road signs are one of the five areas the 30-question Alberta Class 7 knowledge test covers, and the largest block in our mock exam at 8 questions. Once the signs feel automatic, work through the full set of Class 7 practice questions, which also covers rules of the road, right-of-way, safe driving, and penalties.
