This lane-control sign means traffic in the lane must turn — either right or left — and may not proceed straight ahead. It typically faces a T-intersection or a road that ends.
Regulatory signs control how you may use the road — they must be obeyed.
Choose your direction early, signal, and complete the turn. The road does not continue ahead, so "straight" is not an option from this lane.
Regulatory signs are usually white rectangles or squares with black or red markings. A few have special shapes: a red octagon means Stop and a red-and-white downward triangle means Yield. A red circle with a slash means something is prohibited.
Often posted where a road dead-ends at a T-intersection; the matching warning on the approach is the checkerboard/dead-end marker.
