Do Not Pass prohibits overtaking other vehicles on this stretch, regardless of gaps in oncoming traffic — sightlines, hills, or hidden entrances make passing dangerous here even when it looks clear.
Regulatory signs control how you may use the road — they must be obeyed.
Stay in your lane behind slower traffic until you see a sign or pavement marking that ends the restriction. Solid yellow lines on the pavement carry the same message.
Regulatory signs are usually white rectangles or squares with black or red markings. A few have special shapes: a red octagon means Stop and a red-and-white downward triangle means Yield. A red circle with a slash means something is prohibited.
Connect signs to markings: a solid yellow line on your side of the centre line means the same thing as this sign. The exam tests both representations.
