Chevron alignment markers show the direction of a sharp change in the road's path — the chevrons point the way the road bends. A line of them traces the outside of the curve.
Warning signs alert you to hazards or changing conditions ahead.
Slow down before the chevrons and steer in the direction they point. Multiple chevrons mean the curve is severe or long — treat them as a continuous guide through it.
Warning signs are usually yellow diamonds with black symbols. In construction or maintenance zones they are orange instead of yellow.
Chevrons appear on the outside of curves; the exam asks what they indicate (a sharp change of direction) and expects you to follow their pointing direction.
Road signs are one of the five areas the 30-question Alberta Class 7 knowledge test covers, and the largest block in our mock exam at 8 questions. Most people who fail lose their marks outside the sign section, so practise the whole knowledge test free before you walk into a registry.
