Low Clearance warns that the structure ahead (bridge, underpass, sign gantry) is lower than standard height. The posted figure is the maximum vehicle height that can pass safely.
Warning signs alert you to hazards or changing conditions ahead.
If your vehicle or load is taller than the posted clearance, do not proceed — take the detour. Everyday car drivers can ignore the number but should expect trucks slowing or diverting ahead.
Warning signs are usually yellow diamonds with black symbols. In construction or maintenance zones they are orange instead of yellow.
Know that the number is a hard physical limit, and that drivers are responsible for knowing their vehicle's height with its load.
