This sign warns that a railway crossing is ahead. At the tracks themselves you'll find the X-shaped crossbuck, and possibly lights and gates — this diamond gives you the advance notice.
Warning signs alert you to hazards or changing conditions ahead.
Slow down, look and listen for trains in both directions, and be ready to stop at least 5 metres from the nearest rail. Never race lights, drive around gates, or stop on the tracks in queued traffic.
Warning signs are usually yellow diamonds with black symbols. In construction or maintenance zones they are orange instead of yellow.
Heavily tested: trains always have the right-of-way, gates and lights are absolute, and if the exam mentions stopping distance at a crossing, 5 metres from the nearest rail is the figure to know.
