What does the Truck Prohibited sign mean?

This sign (a truck symbol crossed out in a red circle) prohibits heavy trucks from using the road — usually to protect residential streets, weak pavement, or low structures.

What to do at this sign

If you're driving a vehicle over the posted weight, stay out and follow the designated truck route instead. Light passenger vehicles are unaffected.

How to recognize this sign

Regulatory signs are usually white rectangles or squares with black or red markings. A few have special shapes: a red octagon means Stop and a red-and-white downward triangle means Yield. A red circle with a slash means something is prohibited.
